I have no idea how this passed me by but released on Defected on stamped white label in 2012 and the first Inner City release in years from Kevin Saunderson, this really hit the spot.
A beautifully smooth and well rounded old skool flavour with a more contemporary twist. This track would not be out of place in clubs in the 90s or today! The repetitive vocal stabs and almost tribal bass drum hypnotically draws you in and with the subtle musical changes it builds through the track to take you on a patient but meaningful journey. With its exquisitely mastered and polished warehouse feel, I simply cannot wait to play this cut on a serious sound system! If the moment is right I might be dropping this gem in January at the SolGardens Peterborough! Let me know what you think in the comments below! Your feedback is very welcome.
Formed in 1987, Inner City is an electronic music group from Detroit, that came together in 1987. The group is comprised of the producer Kevin Saunderson and the vocalist from Chicago, Paris Grey. Kevin is known as one of the Belleville Three—along with Juan Atkins and the amazing Derrick May who later created the start of the Detroit techno sound.
